HD For Me

Posted in Random, Thoughts by Joshua Pohl on April 10, 2008

My current setup until today, for my 360, was a 19′ CRT monitor connected through the official Xbox 360 VGA cable. The audio cables then plugged into my relatively cheap surround sound system under my desk. This allowed me to play my games in 720p instead of the limited 480i. But, now, I have something to drool over every time I sit down at my desk.

The monitor above is a Westinghouse 24″ Widescreen monitor that I purchased from Newegg several days ago. This monitor is absolutely amazing. It has so many inputs that it almost works as a TV. It has the inputs HDMI, VGA, Component and S-Video. Now, instead of having two monitors on my desk for my computer and Xbox I will have one that can display 1920×1024, which is 1080p. For some people though, this is really not important. HD is only a seller for some, and I happen to be in that some. I’ve heard this statement a lot, “If you don’t care about HD then you are not a real gamer!”. This is completely untrue. I hate it when others judge others on something they don’t even understand. Real gamers care about gameplay and not whether the model details blah blah blah are better than blah blah blah. While some of those things can make a game more enjoyable, they do not make a game.

Thanks for letting me rant for a little bit,

yeah, nice new rig. i’m still using an old Sony rear-projection TV, we don’t really have room for that nice 120hz 1080p 46″ LCD that i’ve been wanting for a while now…
